Dr. Buesos-Ramos and Dr. Srdan Verstovsek, MPN experts from MD Anderson Cancer Center, describe the process of diagnosing MPNs. Dr. Buesos-Ramos explains the importance that the sample is an important factor in diagnosis, but the key is to analyze this data and collaborate with various team members, including hematopathology, cytogenetics, the molecular team and the clinical team, for an accurate diagnosis. Dr. Verstovsek also points out the diagnostic criteria such as bone marrow biopsy, genetic testing, chromosomes, the blood count, and the physical exam, which all play a role in the diagnosis of MPNs.
