Question from David:

Is there significance to a lab report that breaks down the lymphocyte percent and count into: lymphocytes and reactive lymphocytes (17%)?

Answer from Dr. Leclair:

Yes and no. Reactive lymphocytes are lymphocytes that are actively working against some foreign invader (ex., virus). So, their presence is a strong indication that some immunological conflict is going on. The good news is that this is exactly what you want your lymphocytes to do. It is a sign of a functioning immune system.
