María-Victoria Mateos received a medical degree from the University of Valladolid in Spain and completed her residency in hematology at the University Hospital of Salamanca, where she also completed a doctoral degree (thesis: methylation of the p16 gene in multiple myeloma). Dr. Mateos currently works as a clinician physician and as associated professor of Hematology, coordinating all clinical trials developed in the Hematology Department and collaborating in their design and development. An active researcher with involvement in a number of clinical trials, Dr. Mateos is a member of the Programa para el Estudio de la Terapéutica en Hemopatía Maligna (PETHEMA) board and the International Myeloma Working Group (IMWG). Dr. Mateos has published over 100 original papers in international journals. Her areas of interest include multiple myeloma, the biology of plasma cells, and new drug development.
